Khelif was suspended last year by the International Boxing Federation (AIBA) for what it called “not meeting gender eligibility criteria.”
The Algerian Olympic Committee said: “We strongly condemn the unethical behavior that targeted our prestigious champion Iman Khelif by some foreign media with false propaganda.
He continued: “Such attacks on her person are immoral and completely invalid, especially at a time when she is preparing for the most important event of her sporting career, and we have taken all necessary measures to protect our heroine.”
The Algerian boxer was disqualified from the 66kg final after being disqualified before her match against China’s Yang Li due to “testosterone levels,” according to her profile on the Paris 2024 Olympic Games information system.
After her disqualification last year, Khalif posted a video saying: “Unfortunately, I learned that I will not be able to participate in the final, but I am still proud of myself because I raised the flag of my country.
The 25-year-old Algerian stressed: “I am always proud to hold high the flag of my country, it is a conspiracy. There are parties that conspired against Algeria so that our flag does not fly high and we do not win the gold medal.
I reported it at the time: “I had four fights without any problems, and after all that I am told this, I deeply regret this decision, it is a big conspiracy against me and my country that does not allow to compete against women, which is nonsense.”
