Brazilian Olympic swimmer Ana Carolina Vieira has been disqualified from the Paris 2024 Olympic Games after it was discovered she had broken Athletes’ Village rules by going out with her boyfriend, swimmer Gabriel Santos, without getting permission to leave the Athletes’ Village.
While Santos was given a warning, it was decided to exclude Vieira from the Olympics, after her reaction, described as “aggressive”, when confronted with her mistake.
News spread that the Brazilian swimmer and her boyfriend had left the Olympic Village without permission to visit the Eiffel Tower, prompting the Brazilian Olympic Committee to determine her fate based on social media posts.
