Vulnerability to heat depends on both physiological factors, such as age and health status, and exposure-related factors such as occupation and socio-economic conditions.
The negative health effects of heat are predictable and largely preventable through specific public health and multisectoral policies and interventions. WHO has published guidance for public health settings to identify and manage extreme heat risks. Addressing climate change, combined with comprehensive preparedness and risk management, can save lives today and tomorrow.
