Tarek Sektioui, coach of the Moroccan Olympic team, expressed the disappointment he feels alongside the players after losing their ticket to the final of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
Tariq Al-Saktiwi said in statements to the press today, Monday, after the defeat against Spain (1-2): “We started the match with many technical errors, and there was a kind of rush when receiving the ball, because we wanted to go faster in front, which made us miss a number of balls.”
The national voter continued: “We gradually got into the mood of the match, to be able to score the goal, and we managed the confrontation after scoring well until the break between the two halves.”
Al-Saktiwi added: “We made a mistake and gave Spain the equaliser, and we needed it. In that position, the ball could have been diverted forward. We shouldn’t have taken any risks.”
The coach himself continued: “The second goal was scored against us in a moment of forgetfulness during a fatal time, which did not allow us to use our offensive cards to change the result. Even if we tried to do so, time did not allow us to achieve our objective.”
He concluded his speech: “In general, goodness is in what God has chosen. It is true that there is a great disappointment, but there is a medal that we must win, and so the general atmosphere must be changed towards this goal, so that we have at least achieved success by coming to the tournament, which can only be achieved by winning the medal.
The Spanish national team secured the qualifying ticket for the final of the football competition of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games after beating the Moroccan national Olympic team by two goals to one, in the semi-final, on the floor of the “Vélodrome” stadium in Marseille, France.
