In 2025, Morocco will be the beating heart of global sports journalism as it hosts the 87th Congress of the International Sports Press Association
HIBAPRESS-RABAT
At the end of the centenary ceremony of the International Sports Press Association at the UNESCO Hall in Paris, AIPS President Gianni Merlo revealed one of the biggest news of the day for the organization of the next AIPS Congress which will be held in Morocco in 2025.
“We have just received confirmation that the next congress will be held in Morocco,” said Mr. Merlo, to the applause of more than 300 journalists and personalities from the world of sport.
* The big day
The confirmation came directly from the Moroccan Minister of Youth, Culture and Communication Mohamed Mehdi Ben Said, who actively worked on the realization of this project, with the invaluable support of Mourad El Moutawakkil, member of the AIPS Executive Committee, Mr. Badreddine El Idrissi, President of AMPS and member of the AIPS Awards Jury.
This AIPS Congress was a unique opportunity for sports media professionals to network and discuss working conditions, issues and challenges ahead. Each conference features seminars, panel discussions and presentations from journalists, associations and organisations that address AIPS core values, including ethics, working conditions, gender equality, supporting the next generation of young reporters, access to sources and new challenges such as artificial intelligence.
* Second time
This is the 87th AIPS Congress and the second to be held in Morocco, after the 2005 Congress which took place in Marrakech. Morocco is an active part of the global sports map in the coming years, having already secured the opportunity to co-host the 2030 FIFA World Cup.
Hosting such an event represents a recognition of Morocco and an opportunity to highlight its origins and contribute to the development of quality sports journalism. The exchanges will improve the skills of journalists and promote international cooperation.
* Strong support
The Moroccan authorities, aware of the importance of this event, expressed their full support for the organization of this Congress. They committed to providing the best possible conditions to ensure the success of this international meeting, as stated by Mr. Mehdi Ben Said, Moroccan Minister of Youth, Culture and Communication.
In 2025, Morocco will be the beating heart of global sports journalism, providing a platform for exchange and learning for journalists from all backgrounds. This is an event not to be missed for all stakeholders in this field.
