Tennis University between confusion, failure, absence from the Olympics and requests for Al-Araishi’s departure
Moroccan tennis has been plunged into a real crisis for several years, which has caused it to once again miss the Summer Olympic Games, the “Paris 2024” tournament, while the last participation of Moroccan tennis in the Olympic Games dates back to the Athens edition in 2024. 2004.
Since the appointment of Faisal Laaraichi as president of the Royal Moroccan Tennis Federation in 2009, Moroccan tennis has been plagued by problems and failures, leading Morocco to once again be absent from the tennis competitions of the Summer Olympics currently taking place in the French capital, Paris.
Since the retirement of the duo Hicham Arazi and Younes El Aynaoui, Moroccan tennis has been unable to produce a new champion to honor Morocco in international competitions, such as major tournaments and the Olympic Games.
The chance of the tennis university extended to depriving the young champion, Reda Bennani, months before participating in the Hassan II Grand Prix of tennis, while he is one of the best emerging Moroccan tennis players.
At that time, Reda Bennani released a video clip in which he expressed his dissatisfaction with his marginalization and deprivation of participation in the Hassan II Prize, where he complained about the “monopoly” of the technical administration, indicating that it was trying to harm his reputation and also doubted his patriotism in the recent period.
Faced with its failure to produce new champions, the Tennis University has resorted to players from outside Morocco, such as Eliot Benchetrit, who defended the colors of France before the Tennis University included him in Morocco, but he has not managed to prove himself and has no plans to add any players.
Many believe that the Tennis League needs a radical change with the departure of Faisal Laaraichi from his presidency, and the election of a new, more efficient office capable of putting Moroccan tennis back on the front of the stage, and breaking with the series of failures and absences from international competitions such as the Olympic Games.
