A special message from Achraf Hakimi to dual national players

Achraf Hakimi, the captain of the Moroccan Olympic team, has extended a special invitation to players with dual nationality to choose to represent Morocco instead of the national team of the country in which they were born, citing his experience and that of other stars.

Ashraf Hakimi said at the press conference following the Morocco-Egypt match: “After the historic feat we achieved at the World Cup in Qatar 2022, we paved the way for the rest of the Arab and African teams and proved to everyone that Africans are capable of achieving great things. Today, the world saw two African teams playing excellent football and we showed our ability to compete with any team. This achievement is of great value to us and to future generations.

Hakimi added: “There are players who have dual nationality, and I was faced with the same choice between Spain and Morocco. Today, with the evolution of Moroccan football, they will probably want to play for Morocco and contribute to achieving great achievements for our country. I hope they will join us and take part in this journey.
