The urgent misdemeanor chamber of the Marrakesh Court of First Instance on Wednesday sentenced a fake parking attendant to one year of rigorous imprisonment, after he was prosecuted by the public prosecution while in detention on charges of damaging private property using a bladed weapon, public intoxication, and impersonating an official to extort money without right.
The details of the case date back to last August, when the fake attendant damaged a woman's car and broke its front lights after she refused to pay him 30 dirhams. This prompted the victim to call the police, who immediately intervened and arrested the accused.
Upon conducting a precautionary search of the fake attendant, a bladed weapon used to damage the private car and a hallucinatory tablet were found in his possession. After he was taken to the security district headquarters, it became clear through his record that he had prior convictions for assault and battery with a weapon, and theft.
