HIBAPRESS – Mohamed Boudehan
The initial features of the electoral competition in the Guelmim constituency are becoming clear, with ten candidates having submitted their candidacies, as of today, at the headquarters of the Guelmim province administration, in preparation for entering the upcoming legislative elections and competing for one of the two seats allocated to the constituency in the House of Representatives.
According to the data available as of today, the submitted candidacies have been distributed among a number of political parties, reflecting the multiplicity of political colors entering the competition, pending the completion of the candidacy submission process and the announcement of the final list of competitors.
The list of candidates who have submitted their candidacies includes, Abdel Rahman Makrouz of the National Rally of Independents party, and Mohamed Filali of the Progress and Socialism party, and Mohamed Bernichi of the Authenticity and Modernity party, and Said Baaziz of the Socialist Union of Popular Forces party.
The list also includes Hanan Aich of the National Democratic Party, and Mohamed Laaraj of the Popular Movement party, and Ali Jighawi of the Independence party, and Abdelouahed Mezian of the Justice and Development party, in addition to Mustafa Moussaoui of the Constitutional Union party, and Abdel Majid Barka of the Social Democratic Movement party.
This partisan diversity places the Guelmim constituency in front of a multi-party electoral competition, especially since the number of candidacies registered as of today exceeds the number of available seats, which opens the door to an electoral race that may involve multiple stakes and approaches during the next phase.
This list is still preliminary and not final, as the process of submitting candidacies has not yet ended, which makes the possibility of new names entering the competition scene a reality, and thus the possibility of changing the features of the current electoral map before closing the candidacy door and approving the final list.
The competition is expected to move to a clearer phase in the coming period, with the emergence of electoral programs and intensified communication with voters, where each candidate will try to present himself as the most capable of representing the province's population and defending its issues and expectations within the legislative institution.
These elections are of particular importance at the local level, given the stakes associated with the representation of the Guelmim province within the House of Representatives, and the accompanying anticipation of voters regarding the developmental, social, and economic issues that occupy the minds of the population.
Amidst the multiplicity of names and the diversity of political affiliations, attention is turning to the developments that the coming days will bring, whether at the level of new candidacies or the nature of the competition and the programs that will be presented to voters.
As of today, ten candidacies remain registered in the Guelmim constituency to compete for two parliamentary seats, pending the completion of the final list of candidates with the end of the legal deadlines for submitting candidacies.
