HIBAPRESS – Abdel Latif Barka
Educational institutions in the Souss-Massa region received approximately 698,927 male and female students on Monday for the 2026-2027 academic year, an increase of about 17,000 students compared to last season.
This increase coincided with the enhancement of the school offering through the establishment of 22 new educational institutions, including 15 institutions in rural areas, in addition to four new boarding facilities, with the aim of improving educational conditions and responding to the growing demand.
The "Pioneering Institutions" program continues to expand in the region, with the number of pioneering primary schools reaching 619, while the number of pioneering middle schools has risen to 101 institutions.
On the social front, more than 71,000 male and female students will benefit from school transportation through a fleet of 1,297 buses, while thousands of students will benefit from scholarship and school meal programs.
The educational system in the region has also been strengthened with 1,375 new teaching staff members, in a move aimed at keeping pace with the increase in student numbers and expanding the educational offering.
These figures reflect the scale of the commitment that the Souss-Massa region is placing on improving the quality of education, expanding the school offering, and supporting schooling, especially in rural areas.
