HIBAPRESS – A. Sayyad
The Moroccan film "The Ruler of Lazoun" undertakes an experience that combines comedy with topics related to Moroccan reality, by placing elections at the core of its events, and investing in the situations and paradoxes that accompany this entitlement to present a satirical treatment close to the audience.
The work relies on a set of comedic events and situations that evoke the atmosphere of elections and the accompanying promises, slogans, and stances, before its story extends to various social issues, in an attempt to present an image that combines the entertainment aspect with posing some questions related to the daily life of the citizen.
"The Ruler of Lazoun" comes in a context where Moroccan cinema relies on comedy as a means to reach the audience and address topics relevant to society, without abandoning the entertainment dimension which is one of the most prominent elements of this type of work.
The idea belongs to Mohamed Tahraoui, who also participated in writing the screenplay and dialogue alongside Zakaria Kaddour, while Ali Al-Taheri undertook the direction, within a cinematic experience that seeks to approach social and electoral issues in a simple comedic style, relying on paradox and everyday situations.
