HIBAPRESS – Casablanca
Dental students in Casablanca have entered into a comprehensive boycott of hospital training, protesting what they consider imbalances in the conditions of clinical training, and demanding the provision of suitable spaces and equipment for practicing their training.
The escalation began on Tuesday with the boycott of training in various departments of the Dental Examination and Treatment Center at Ibn Rochd University Hospital. The student office confirmed that the decision came after exhausting dialogue efforts and giving the concerned authorities a deadline to address the imbalances, holding the administration and the supervisory bodies responsible for any repercussions on training and treatment services that may result from the boycott.
The students are demanding the expansion of hospital training spaces to keep pace with the increasing number of students, and an end to them bearing the costs of medical materials and equipment necessary for treatment, emphasizing that clinical training is the foundation of dental education. They also stressed that the suspension of the boycott will not be based on promises, but rather after their demands are actually and tangibly met.
