HIBAPRESS – Abdelatif Barka
The Souss Massa region, like other parts of the Kingdom, entered the second day of the election campaign for the legislative elections of September 23, amid remarkable competition among various political parties that chose to enter the race through local and regional lists.
With the start of the campaign, party organizations and their candidates began intensifying their field activities and opening direct communication channels with voters, in an attempt to build a strong electoral presence within the various constituencies.
The nomination data reveals the extent of the anticipated competition in the region, with 117 local lists and 18 regional women's lists competing for 28 parliamentary seats, including 21 seats allocated to local constituencies and 7 seats within the regional women's constituency. The intensity of competition varies from one constituency to another, depending on the number of candidate lists and the number of available seats, which makes the election campaign open to multiple scenarios in the coming weeks.
At the level of Agadir Ida-Outanan, 20 local lists are competing for four seats, while Inezgane Ait Melloul sees the participation of 20 lists to win three seats.
In the Ait Baha Chtouka constituency, the number of lists reaches 22 lists competing for three seats, compared to 17 lists in Tiznit to win two seats, and 14 lists in Tata for two seats. As for North Taroudant, it witnesses the participation of 9 lists competing for three seats, while 14 lists compete in South Taroudant for four seats.
With the start of the campaign, attention is drawn to the ability of the various candidates to attract voters and translate their field presence into votes, in an electoral race that is expected to intensify as the polling date approaches.
