HIBAPRESS – Berchid
Manifestations of chaos have returned to a number of main streets in the city of Berchid, especially in popular neighborhoods, amid growing discontent among residents due to the increasing occupation of public property and the spread of street vendors and handcarts.
Local sources reported that Abdullah Chefchaouni Street, in the heart of Al-Hassani neighborhood, is witnessing the spread of street vendors on both sides of the road designated for vehicle traffic, while the exploitation of public property has extended to the sidewalks designated for pedestrians, which impedes traffic and forces passersby to use the road.
The same sources added that the spread of street vendors leaves behind large quantities of waste around the selling areas, at a time when, according to them, there have been insufficient interventions to curb these phenomena or organize vendors in the model market located on Idriss Lahrizi Street in the same neighborhood.
Several streets in the city of Berchid, according to the same sources, are also witnessing an increase in the use of animal-drawn carts and manually pushed carts, especially on main axes, amid demands to intensify monitoring campaigns, regulate the use of public property, and maintain the flow of traffic.
