HIBAPRESS
Amine Tahraoui, Minister of Health and Social Protection and member of the National Rally of Independents (RNI) political bureau, confirmed that the government has allocated approximately 7 billion dirhams to strengthen the health sector in the Beni Mellal-Khenifra region, as part of initiatives aimed at developing the health infrastructure and bringing healthcare services closer to citizens, especially in rural and mountainous areas.
Tahraoui explained, during a communication meeting organized by the RNI in Azilal, that he had visited the region more than five times since taking responsibility for the health sector. He noted that these visits included monitoring several major projects, including the university hospital in Beni Mellal and the reopening of the regional hospital in Fqih Ben Saleh after being closed for over ten years. He highlighted that the hospital serves about 300,000 people, while the initiatives also included the construction and rehabilitation of regional and local hospitals, as well as proximity hospitals.
The Minister pointed out that the region also benefited from the expansion of the primary healthcare network, with more than 140 health centers opened or rehabilitated, especially in rural and mountainous areas, in addition to programming the rehabilitation of an additional 160 centers. He considered that these centers form the basis for "proximity health" services, by providing services related to child health monitoring, vaccination, and support for women during pregnancy.
Tahraoui revealed that the health program in the region includes the construction of seven new hospitals and the rehabilitation of nine hospitals, in addition to continued investment in primary healthcare centers. In the Azilal province, the allocated budget for the sector is approximately one billion dirhams, with the programming of two new hospitals and the continued development of the primary health centers network.
The Minister emphasized that these initiatives fall within what he described as a "continuity program," stressing that the reform of the health system will continue with the aim of providing more accessible and quality services to citizens, and ensuring that the population benefits from medical services wherever they are in the various regions of the Kingdom.
