Algeria’s Iman Khalif goes to court after winning gold
Algerian boxer Iman Khalif, gold medalist in the 66kg category at the Paris Olympics, filed a complaint in Paris on Friday for gross electronic harassment.
This comes after Iman was the victim of a controversy over her sexual identity, according to what her lawyer, Nabil Boodi, announced on Saturday.
Buddy said in a statement: “Having just won a gold medal at the 2024 Paris Olympic Games, boxer Iman Khalif has decided to embark on a new fight: that of justice, dignity and honor.”
He stressed that “On Friday, I filed a complaint for serious cyberbullying with the Center for Combating Cyberhate at the Paris Public Prosecutor’s Office.”
He continued: “The criminal investigation will determine who launched this misogynistic, racist and sexist campaign, but it will also have to focus on those who fueled this digital lynching.”
Algerian boxer Iman Khalif won the gold medal at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, after defeating China’s Yang Liu in the final match in the 66kg category.
Khalifa has faced widespread criticism throughout her Olympic participation, having been referred to as a “man”, which was denied by the International Olympic Committee.
