3 Moroccan runners compete for the crown at the Paris Olympic Marathon
Morocco’s participation in the Paris 2024 Olympic Games will conclude with the women’s marathon, which will take place on Sunday with the participation of 3 Moroccan runners.
Moroccan runners Fatima Zahraa Karkadi, Rahma Tahiri and Kaoutar Ferkousi will participate in the women’s marathon at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games on Sunday morning, August 11, 2024, the last day of this global event.
Fatima Zahraa Karkadi is considered the most prominent Moroccan candidate to compete for the podium in the marathon competition, as she has already won a bronze medal at the World Championships in the Hungarian capital, Budapest in 2023, and before that, she won gold at the Arab Championship in the 10,000 meters, and was also crowned champion of the Marrakech urban marathon in 2022.
As for Rahma Al-Tahiri, she has already won the seventh session of the Rabat International Marathon and silver at the Mediterranean Games in the 5000 meters in 2022, and she has previously excelled in the 1500, 3000 and 5000 meters races.
On the other hand, runner Kawthar Farkousi has already won the 34th edition of the Marrakech International Marathon this year, and before that, she excelled at the World Cross Country Championships in Aarhus, Denmark, where she placed second.
It is worth noting that Morocco only won two medals during its participation in the Paris Olympics, including a gold medal for Sofiane El Bakkali in the 3,000 meters steeplechase and a bronze medal for the football team.
