Al-Azhar neighborhood, under the Sidi Bernoussi Prefectures in Casablanca, witnessed a serious security incident during the early hours of Thursday morning. A police officer was subjected to a sudden attack by a Malinois dog while performing his security duties near several industrial units in the area.
The incident details go back to around 3 AM when the communications room received a report about suspicious individuals moving near a group of industrial units in Al-Azhar neighborhood. This prompted the swift deployment of the motorcycle squad to the scene to conduct field investigations and verify the identity of the individuals present in the area.
During the security intervention, one of the motorcycle squad members managed to stop an individual on a motorcycle to check his identity and take the necessary legal measures.
However, the situation quickly escalated into a dangerous confrontation when the officer was surprised by a Malinois dog that pounced on him unexpectedly, before attacking and biting him on the hand.
According to available information, the officer was forced to confront the dog and try to avoid more serious injuries in a confrontation that lasted for over half an hour, before requesting security reinforcements and an ambulance to intervene and transport the injured officer to the hospital.
Upon the arrival of the rescue elements, they were able to control the dog, muzzle it, and take it away from the scene, pending the identification of its owner and clarification of the circumstances of its presence at the location, especially since the incident coincided with a security intervention due to a report about suspicious movements near the industrial units.
The injured police officer was transported to Al-Mansour Hospital in Sidi Bernoussi, where he received the necessary first aid and treatment. Meanwhile, the security services have begun their investigations and inquiries to uncover all the circumstances of the incident and identify the individuals who were the subject of the security report.
Specialized services continue their investigations to determine responsibilities and ascertain the circumstances surrounding the dog's presence at the location, pending the results of the ongoing investigations under the supervision of the competent authorities.
