HIBAPRESS – Mohamed Daher
A group of residents of Unit Two in Al-Hay Al-Mohammadi, Al-Daudiyat neighborhood, contacted the newspaper to express their concern over the delay by the Marrakech Waqf and Islamic Affairs Directorate in appointing an imam for Al-Karmaei Mosque for over four months, following the retirement of the former imam.
The residents confirmed through the same contact that there is clear procrastination by the officials at the Waqf Directorate in providing a successor to the former imam, as his son took over the same position illegally. They explained that they have approached the Waqf Directorate several times to inquire about the latest details regarding the mosque and the imam, but the administration has not responded so far and has not provided an imam for the mosque.
The residents added that the situation now requires the intervention of the authorities, represented by the Governor of the Marrakech-Safi region, Lahbiel El-Khatib, demanding a swift appointment of an imam for the mosque. This is especially true since the directorate had prior knowledge that the former imam would be retiring and was honored over four months ago. They were supposed to have appointed an imam, but they do not know why there has been a delay in this matter until now.
