The Spanish Ministry of the Interior has announced a new step aimed at improving the efficiency of security infrastructure at land crossings. This step involved signing a contract to upgrade and expand the visual surveillance system at the vital Beni Nsar crossing, which connects the city of Nador to the occupied enclave of Melilla.
The contract for the supply and installation of closed-circuit television equipment was awarded to the specialized company "TRC Informática SL," after its financial offer surpassed other competing offers within the framework of transparent bidding.
The total cost of this financial contract is approximately 16,216.42 Euros, including fees. It was approved through the small contracts procedure in mid-August, with a tight implementation timeframe not exceeding one month.
Despite the project's importance, official administrative documents did not disclose the exact number of cameras to be installed or their advanced technical specifications, leaving room for interpretation regarding the actual scope of this technological expansion.
This technical step comes in the context of media reports indicating the reinforcement of vigilance measures in the border area, in a continuous effort to secure crossings and raise digital surveillance levels according to the latest prevailing standards.
