HIBAPRESS – A. Mahyaoui
The regional road No. 501, connecting the city of Fez and the village of Bahmmamed, witnessed a serious traffic accident on Monday morning within the municipality of El Ajajra, in the province of Moulay Yacoub, after a car collided with two students on their way to their educational institution.
According to the available data, the two students were urgently transported to the Hassan II University Hospital in Fez to receive the necessary treatment, with their health condition described as varying in severity.
The accident occurred near the municipality of El Ajajra, specifically at a road junction known, according to local accounts, for frequent traffic accidents, especially on the stretch connecting the Douar El Dahamna and the center of the municipality of El Ajajra. This raises continuous concerns among the residents, particularly families whose children are forced to cross the road daily to reach their educational institutions.
The injured students are studying at the El Ajajra Middle School and hail from the Douars of Oulad El Maati and El Qaraftiya. The accident has caused a state of anxiety among their families and the general residents.
This incident renews the residents' demand for the competent authorities to intervene and take urgent measures to curb the dangers of this road junction by enhancing signage and warning signs, and taking measures to ensure the safe passage of students, especially during school entry and exit times.
The residents hope that the repeated accidents in this section will be an occasion to review the road safety conditions there, to avoid the recurrence of such incidents and protect road users, especially children and students.
