HIBAPRESS – Paris
Amidst growing social unrest, a large-scale wave of protests by high school students has erupted today, Monday, in several French cities, in protest against deteriorating study conditions and shortages in educational institutions.
According to official data, these protests have extended to approximately 180 high schools across French territory. Some locations witnessed tension and scattered confrontations, resulting in the arrest of 164 people on charges of vandalism and skirmishes around some institutions.
The protesting students are raising a set of urgent demands, foremost among them is an end to overcrowding in classrooms, addressing the severe shortage of teachers and educational staff, and providing the necessary resources to improve the quality of education.
These movements are expected to continue in the coming days, coinciding with the anticipated national strike in the public service sector, which will raise the level of tension in the French streets.
