HIBAPRESS- Fes
The Preliminary Criminal Division of the Court of Appeal in Fes decided, on Monday morning, September 28, 2026, to postpone the hearing of a case involving 12 employees and officials of the "Al-Wafa Children's Home" association, to the next session on October 26.
The decision to postpone came, according to available data, in order to summon a number of declarants and to give the defendants a deadline to appoint defense counsel. The court postponed the decision on the requests for temporary release submitted for the benefit of some of the accused, pending the completion of legal procedures, after the Public Prosecution opposed these requests.
The defendants are being prosecuted in a state of arrest at the local prison of Bourkaiz, in connection with the investigations initiated by the Regional Brigade of the Judicial Police in Fes, which resulted in their referral to the judiciary on suspicion of their involvement in acts described as serious, including human trafficking and inciting minors to prostitution and theft within the charitable institution.
The list of those being prosecuted, according to available data, includes the current president of the association, former directors, as well as caregivers, instructors, and private security guards, pending the data and judicial decisions that will emerge from the trial proceedings.
The postponement of the case comes in a judicial context in which various facts and accusations are still under discussion before the court, while emphasizing that the defendants benefit from the presumption of innocence until final judicial rulings are issued. The next session on October 26 is expected to be a new milestone for continuing to consider this case.
