Local sources in the province of Al Hoceima have circulated moving scenes showing an elderly sick woman being transported from one of the villages in the Ketama region on a wheelbarrow, due to the difficulty of accessing the area and the absence of a suitable means of transport for emergency health cases.
According to the same sources, the patient's family was forced to use this simple means of transport because there was no accessible road to the village, in addition to the absence of an ambulance capable of reaching her location. This incident, which has caused dismay among a number of residents in the region, brings back to the forefront the residents' demands for the necessity of improving infrastructure, breaking the isolation of mountain villages, and strengthening transport and ambulance services, to ensure that the sick, women, and the elderly have access to treatment in conditions that preserve their dignity.
