According to the international press, former South African president Jacob Zuma is no longer a member of the African National Congress.
The ANC disciplinary commission has decided to exclude from its ranks this former leader of the said Party.
The ANC’s disciplinary commission accuses the former South African head of state of having created a rival party in the May 2024 elections.
According to the leaked document, reported by the local press, Jacob Zuma “has the right to appeal to the National Disciplinary Appeals Commission within twenty-one days.”
It must be said that on July 17, 2024, the former president was the subject of disciplinary proceedings within the Party.
Already in January 2024, the African National Congress had proceeded to suspend it, after its alliance with the newly formed party, the opposition party, Umkhonto we Sizwe (MK).
In South Africa’s recent elections, Zuma’s uMkhonto we Sizwe party won nearly 15% of the national vote and became the country’s third largest party.
This situation largely contributed to the ANC losing its parliamentary majority for the first time since coming to power in 1994.
Despite the creation of a new party, now the number one opponent of the African National Congress, Jacob Zuma insists that he remains a member of the ANC.
