The British Maritime Trade Operations authority announced today, Friday, that a tanker was subjected to an attack by an unknown projectile as it exited the Strait of Hormuz, which led to a limited fire and a power outage on board.
The authority stated that the tanker's captain reported that the ship sustained "a hit from an unspecified projectile while sailing out of the strait," which caused a small fire and a power outage.
It added that the tanker's crew managed to control and extinguish the fire, confirming that there were no reports of casualties or environmental damage as a result of the incident.
The authority clarified that the tanker, whose name and flag were not disclosed, continued its journey after the fire was brought under control.
