Security and judicial investigations continue into the case of the murder of a policeman in the city of Imzouren, following gunfire from a suspect currently in pretrial detention at Al Hoceima prison. The scope of the investigations is expanding to include a number of gendarmes.
According to the information circulating, the National Brigade for Judicial Investigations of the Gendarmerie has summoned gendarmes from Al Hoceima and Imzouren, as well as former gendarmes who worked at the Imzouren territorial brigade and the Al Hoceima judicial center, before some of them joined other regional commands through transfers.
These summons come after the results of technical expertise, including the examination of telephone communications, were completed under the order of the Public Prosecution. It is suspected that these revealed communication between the suspect and a number of gendarmerie elements.
Specialized services are investigating, according to the same information, the extent of any relationships or potential leniency with the suspect, who is suspected of involvement in criminal activities related to drug trafficking and cross-border networks.
A preliminary list of about 11 gendarmes of various ranks has been prepared, according to the circulating information, pending the results of the investigations and judicial inquiries. It is emphasized that the summons or investigation does not imply any proven responsibility or involvement until the legal procedures are completed.
