The General Delegation for Prison Administration and Reintegration provided clarifications regarding the status of prisoners detained in connection with the Idkadem Izik camp events, in response to a statement issued by the International Federation for Human Rights and the World Organization Against Torture on October 12, concerning a hunger strike, detention conditions, the health status of the detainees, and their demands related to transfer.

The Delegation confirmed, in a clarifying statement issued on Tuesday, October 13, 2026, that the number of prisoners continuing their hunger strike is five, contrary to what was stated in the human rights statement which mentioned eight prisoners. It clarified that six prisoners from this group notified the administration of the prison institutions, on September 23, of their commencement of a hunger strike, five of them in the Kenitra Central Prison, while the sixth is in the Tiflet 2 Local Prison. It added that the prisoner with the initials (N.A.) announced the end of his strike on September 30, bringing the current number of strikers to five prisoners.

The same source added that the remaining detainees concerned, who are in other prison institutions, are not on any hunger strike and are receiving and consuming their meals normally on a daily basis.

Regarding the measures taken to support the strikers, the Delegation stated that they have been subjected to the protocol in place for such cases, with continuous medical monitoring, as well as access to institutional, human rights, and judicial visits as stipulated by law.

Concerning the demands to transfer prisoners to prison institutions in the southern provinces of the Kingdom, the Delegation indicated the transfer of prisoner (B.Kh.) on September 23 from Tiflet 2 Local Prison to Laayoune Local Prison, based on his request and after he met the approved criteria, given that the remaining period of his sentence does not exceed four years, and he was not on a hunger strike.

It also reported the transfer of prisoner (N.A.) to Oudayas Local Prison in Marrakech based on his request, while prisoner (H.D.) was transferred to Ibn Jreer Local Prison as part of a disciplinary measure, which the Delegation stated came after he committed an offense within the prison institution where he was held.

The Delegation confirmed that, following the transfer operations, the concerned prisoners were enabled to contact their families to inform them of their whereabouts, noting that they also benefited from visits from their relatives.

Regarding the detention conditions of the individuals in this group, the Delegation stated that they are normal, confirming that the necessary healthcare is provided to them.

In conclusion of its statement, the Delegation called on human rights organizations to investigate and verify data before publishing reports and statements, and to adhere to objectivity in addressing files related to prisoners, considering that relying on specific sources without conducting necessary investigations may lead to the dissemination of inaccurate information.

This clarification comes in the context of the discrepancy between the data contained in the human rights statement issued on October 12 and the clarifications provided by the Delegation regarding the number of hunger strikers, the measures taken against them, their detention conditions, and the transfers of some of them between prison institutions.
