HIBAPRESS – Follow-up
The case of the arrest of 61 Moroccan citizens in the Algerian city of Oran has reopened questions about the circumstances of the file, amid circulating queries about the identity of an individual suspected of being involved in organizing illegal immigration trips, and demands to present him to the media and the judiciary.
These questions focus on the nature of the relationship between the mentioned individual and the detainees, especially after his phone number was found on the "WhatsApp" application among the phones of some members of the group, along with conversations related to travel routes and the amounts of money required for passage.
The Algerian authorities had announced, on October 11th, the arrest of 61 Moroccan citizens, stating they were preparing to carry out acts of sabotage affecting security and public order.
The narrative of the "Kabrana" stated that the detainees entered Algerian territory via Tunisia, before crossing mountainous and forested paths in the El Kala region of Wilaya of El Taref, then heading by land to Oran.
The Algerian security statement did not include details about the individual allegedly linked to organizing irregular immigration trips, or whether he had been investigated in connection with the case.
