As part of its continuous field campaigns to monitor markets and protect consumer health and safety, the local authority in the Sidi Slimane Cheraa Pachalik, administratively belonging to the Berkane province, in coordination with the Joint Committee for Quality Control, managed to seize and destroy approximately 1200 kilograms of spoiled and expired food products.
The surprise inspection, led by the district governor in the presence of local officials and representatives of the concerned departments within the joint committee, resulted in the confiscation of a diverse range of food products stored and offered for sale under conditions that did not comply with health standards and safety regulations for quality verification.
Following the completion of legal procedures and established protocols, the seized items were transported to the public landfill to prevent their re-circulation, where supervisors managed to completely destroy them in the presence of all committee members.
These field actions come in the context of intensifying oversight on distribution chains and local markets, and combating practices that pose a risk to public health, in addition to ensuring that goods offered comply with approved quality specifications.
