Médiouna: Street vendors and their carts colonize the streets during the “Al-Qaida” festival
A. Latif Baraka: Heba Press
Street vendors and owners of animal-drawn vehicles took advantage of the annual “Qaida” holiday to extend their control over the sidewalks of public roads and alleys, in a chaotic and dangerous manner so much so that owners of cars or public transport buses were denied permission to pass through.
This falls before the rest of the agents and men of the authority, despite the existence of a collective decision prohibiting the presence of animal-drawn vehicles, a decision whose main requirements have been implemented and, in its absence, general chaos has returned, with the obscene occupation of public domain and public highway.
Every day, we see the agents of authority and the successor of the leader moving around the region in the middle of these roads and alleys without lifting a finger.
Despite complaints from residents, traders who are obliged to pay taxes and car owners, with the issuance of a collective decision, the local authority, in the absence of the leader, turns a blind eye to this dangerous situation of terrible occupation of roads, alleys and sidewalks.
Even pedestrians were denied the right to move on the sidewalks, where street vendors spread out entire mattresses and offered various items for sale. This happened in the absence of the leader who had previously liberated the most difficult occupied streets and alleys.
Thanks to his continuous campaigns, the city has regained its urban image, interrupted by the invasion of street vendors, but his absence has revealed laxity and chaos, despite the presence of a pasha and agents of authority in the area. However, the collective decision. ordering the release of the public domain and the elimination of strollers lying on the shelves, making everyone wonder about the silence, complacency and indulgence of men of authority and their agents in a dangerous laziness and chaos in the absence of a leader.
