Agadir: In the absence of care for them… the disturbed and the homeless in the streets and squares
A. Latif Baraka: Heba Press
During this summer, the streets, squares and residential neighborhoods of the city of Agadir saw an influx of dozens of mentally ill and homeless children, living in an inhuman situation, without food, clothing or shelter, despite the presence of government programs and recommendations from the highest authority in the country to governors and workers on the need to address these issues of society.
There is hardly a place in the city of resurrection where one cannot find these marginalized groups, so much so that residents and visitors to the city have become aware of the growth of this phenomenon, without knowing the areas where it is present to such a large extent. Is the situation linked to the harsh climatic conditions of the regions and cities neighboring Agadir, which are experiencing an increase in heat waves that has led them to move towards the humid coastal areas?
In contrast to this situation denounced by human rights and civil society bodies, those who follow local affairs in the city note the absence of social programs dedicated to this category in local elected councils, as well as at the level of the Souss-Massa Regional Council, which notes that these elected officials, in turn, lack social humanity in their policy, and that an elected council created a shelter for stray dogs without leaving a humane care home. It resolves the controversy on the subject. type of representative who manages local affairs in the region or cities.
