In a new development in local events, the collective councils of Otat El Hajj and Kiko, during extraordinary sessions held recently, refused to approve the agreement of the regional company for the distribution of water, electricity, sanitation and public lighting.

The members of these councils confirmed by a majority that the transfer of these vital services to the private sector could have negative repercussions on citizens, and the transfer decision comes in implementation of the decision of the Ministry of the Interior, which will include the sector of the National Office of Electricity and Drinking Water, the water and electricity sector, and the independent agencies for the distribution of water and electricity and the disinfection of liquids, and by 2026, according to a well-informed source, this transfer will also include the public transport sector.

One speaker, an activist from an association, said: “We fear that missing these basic services will lead to an increase in prices and a decrease in the quality of services provided to citizens. While another speaker, the owner of a large company, a nationally renowned company, said that this transfer benefits the state and the above-mentioned sectors, because this transformation will be known, there will be real dynamism in development, and only very experienced and sensitive skills will remain. The fears of this loss, except for the failed elites who do not work in the above-mentioned and internal sectors, have their eyes fixed on the excellent skills of the independent water and electricity distribution agencies, with their administrative and field experience, which will bring about radical changes. transformations in this regard.

All eyes are on the next steps that local authorities and relevant authorities in the Pullman region will take to address this issue.

Recently, general managers have been appointed in some cities of regional companies. For example: Toumi of the Lydec company as director of the regional multi-service company of the Marrakech region.

Amrzak Mohamed of the Independent Water and Electricity Distribution Agency of Meknes has been appointed director of the regional multi-service company for the distribution of drinking water, electricity and liquid disinfection in the high-performance Agadir region.

Oukhoya Mounir from the electricity sector, director of the regional multi-service company for the distribution of drinking water, electricity and liquid disinfection in Oujda.

Al-Tazi, from Lydec, is the director of the regional multi-service company for the distribution of drinking water, electricity and liquid disinfection in the Casablanca-Settat region. The appointments will soon include the rest of the remaining regions, alongside other prominent names in the field of management.
