“Poor people’s” swimming pools compensate for distance from beaches
Children of the poor in the interior cities are forced to go to swimming pools, if they are available, of course, in some areas far from the coast.
Faced with the high temperatures experienced in the cities of the interior of Morocco during the summer, swimming pools are the only solution allowing the poor to cool off and escape the extreme heat that sometimes penetrates the walls of houses day and night.
Despite the water crisis in the Kingdom due to the lack of rainfall, many swimming pools have opened their doors, most of which belong to urban land communities and the rest are private properties. They opened their doors during the summer to residents of city centers to spend moments of recreation and relaxation.
There are swimming pools that provide their services for free, which attracts poor children from fragile families, while there are swimming pools that provide their services in exchange and are within the reach of the middle classes.
There are swimming pools that offer various programs throughout the summer, as associations submit requests to benefit from their services, which are divided into courses per day, in addition to assigning one day a week to women to enjoy the pool and enjoy swimming in the summer.
