Egypt: Honoring Morocco for its efforts in the fight against arms trafficking and proliferation
Today, Sunday in Cairo, the Kingdom of Morocco was honored in recognition of its efforts to support and achieve cooperation between the League of Arab States and the European Union in the field of combating trafficking and illicit proliferation of small arms and light weapons in the member states of the League.
This honor, which was also attended by the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan and the United Arab Emirates, took place on the sidelines of the closing meeting of the second phase of the cooperation project between the League of Arab States and the European Union on “Combat Trade and the illicit spread of small arms and light weapons in the member states of the League of Arab States.
This honor granted to the Kingdom of Morocco comes in recognition of its efforts to support this cooperation between the two countries, in particular its adherence to the first activities and programs implemented during the second phase of the cooperation project between the two parties on the “Fight against the trade and illicit proliferation of small arms and light weapons in the member states of the League of Arab States” by hosting the first regional workshop in 2022 in Tangier, and national trainings in the capital, Rabat.
This final meeting, organized by the Arms Control and Disarmament Department – Political Affairs Sector of the League in cooperation with the European Union and the project’s implementing partners (Interpol, the World Customs Organization, the Small Arms Survey Programme), over two days, is the result of the existing cooperation between the two parties, convinced of the importance of… Coordination and synergistic efforts between regional and international organizations to reduce the illicit trade in small arms.
During this meeting, the second phase of the cooperation project was assessed and the prospects for future cooperation between the two organizations in the field of combating illicit small arms were discussed.
