Moroccan national team star on Wydad Sports Club’s radar
Wydad Sports Club management, led by Hicham Ait Menna, is looking to sign Moroccan national team star Ezzedine Ounahi in the current ‘Summer Mercato’.
Wydad Athletic Club, led by South African coach Rulani Mokoena, wants to strengthen its ranks with good players, to bring the team back to the podium, after a “disastrous” season last year.
According to media reports, the Wydad administration contacted former Moroccan international Mehdi Benatia, sports director of French club Olympique de Marseille, to sign a contract with the star of the “Atlas Lions”.
The same information indicated that Wydad had tried to recruit Ezz El-Din Ounahi, the center of Marseille Square, during the current summer transfer window.
He stressed that the “Red Team” confirmed to Benatia its willingness to make an official offer to Olympique de Marseille to include Onahi, after leaving the accounts of Italian coach Roberto De Zerbi.
He stressed that Benatia had asked Wydad officials to give him time to discuss the matter with the French club’s officials, and to find out the extent of the player’s desire to live this experience.
He explained that Onahi told the Marseille administration that he was not at all enthusiastic about accepting the offer, as he was looking for a new experience in one of the European leagues.
