Justice Minister Abdel Latif Wehbe has prevented associations for the protection of public funds from filing complaints against elected officials and personalities in cases of embezzlement of public funds.

The criminal procedure bill, which the government is set to ratify tomorrow, Thursday, explicitly states that “it is not possible to conduct investigations and initiate public prosecutions concerning offences against public funds, except at the request of the King’s Attorney General at the Court of Cassation in his capacity as head of the public prosecutor’s office, upon referral to the High Council for Accounts, or upon request accompanied by a report from the General Inspectorate of Finance, the General Inspectorate of Territorial Administration, the General Inspectorates of the ministries or departments concerned, or upon referral to the National Commission for Integrity, Prevention and the Fight against Corruption, or any body authorized by law to do so.

Human rights activist Al-Glossi had attacked the Minister of Justice, saying: “What happened is that the Minister of Justice chose” to go against the directives declared by the state at the highest level regarding the fight against corruption and bribery, and he took advantage of his position to repeat his broken and repeated records regarding complaints from associations for the protection of public funds, whose presence greatly disturbed him, and that “it is not reasonable to continue filing complaints and resorting to justice in political conflicts.”

As for the president of the Association for the Protection of Public Money, the Minister of Justice “came back to defend the increase in the penalty for false defamation to ten years in prison!” In other words, the offense will become a crime to intimidate activists who protect public funds and all those who denounce corruption, muzzle mouths and sow fear. Thus, he rolls out a red carpet for corruption and bribery to flourish and celebrate their presence in front of everyone, without the corrupters fearing prosecution or responsibility, and links responsibility to the obligation to render accounts, and with it the constitution, goes to the museum.

Lawyer Al-Glossi concluded in his Facebook post: “The Minister of Justice is still determined to echo the voices that benefit from the reality of rent and corruption and turn to their lawyers in the face of voices criticizing the reality of corruption, rent and corruption. and corruption, which is no longer a secret to anyone, and here we have the right to ask the question.” Next: Why does the Minister of Justice take advantage of his position to whitewash corruption and thieves of public money and refuse to act as a lawyer for the community affected by the consequences of corruption and forced to bear the exorbitant cost in exchange for pleasing a handful of brokers, looters of public money and money launderers?
