Regragui reveals the reasons for the summons of Onahi and Akrad (video)
Walid Regragui, the coach of the Moroccan national football team, has admitted his concern over the condition of his defender Nayef Akrad, the English player of West Ham United, and Azzedine Ouanahi, the midfielder of the French club Olympique de Marseille.
Walid Regragui said at the press conference held today Thursday at the Mohammed VI Center to unveil the composition of the Moroccan national team: “The situation of Nayef Akrad and Ezzedine Ounahi is complicated, and I am in daily contact with them, I must show their full confidence.
He added: “They were invited because they have great value in the national team. Nayef Akrad is a defender who cannot be talked about. Onahi is also a different player, and they must feel confident.”
He continued: “What the public doesn’t know is that Akrad and Onahi have received big offers from leagues that pay players a lot of money, and they have rejected that because they are looking for a league with strong competition to stay ready.”
He said: “I think they will find a solution in the next 48 hours. Each of them has contacts with clubs who want to sign him.”
Walid Regragui, coach of the first Moroccan national team, revealed the list of players who will be invited to participate in the two matches that the national elite will play at the Grand Agadir Stadium, on September 6 and 9, 2024, against the teams of Gabon and Lesotho, in preparation for the African qualifiers for the final of the African Cup of Nations, which our country will host in the extended period between December 21, 2025 and January 18, 2026.
