Demands to protect the purchasing power of Moroccans in school admissions
Heba Press/. Rabat
The Progress and Socialism Party told the government that families are experiencing “great difficulties, especially among the middle and vulnerable classes” due to the skyrocketing cost of school supplies, and that their purchasing power must therefore be protected.
At a meeting of its political bureau, the party called for “urgent measures” to protect the purchasing power of Moroccans at school.
The Political Bureau stopped, in a report, at what it called “scandalous increases” imposed by most private educational institutions regarding registration fees and monthly homework, “under the pretext of free prices and competition, in addition to imposing the purchase of imported textbooks”, which weighs even more heavily on the families concerned.
The party called for “dealing decisively, constructively and effectively with the issue of access to education”, which concerns millions of Moroccan families, and ensuring that urgent measures are taken to protect and take into account the financial capacity of these families, and to bring together all the conditions for a successful entry into the new season.
Nabil Benabdallah’s party urged the government to “really start carrying out the necessary reforms”, to provide all the capacities and conditions to be able to rely “above all on quality and equal public education, in order to protect the future of Moroccan girls and young boys”, preserving education. The same communication adds “its character of public service strategy, as well as families from the greed of the private sector”, calling for the need “to effectively ensure its legalization and supervision in accordance with the requirements of the framework law.
