Karim El-Barkawi’s father keeps him away from Egyptian Zamalek

Moroccan Karim El-Barkawi, striker of Saudi club Al-Raed, has apologized for not joining the ranks of Egyptian club Zamalek during the current summer transfer window.

Zamalek have started negotiations with El-Barkawi to include him in the team, with the ‘White Knight’ keen to conclude new agreements in order to strengthen his ranks.

According to Egyptian media, the Moroccan player contacted the Zamalek club officials in recent hours and assured them that he would not be able to join the ranks of the White Castle next season due to his father’s illness.

The same sources explained that the management of the Saudi major contacted Al-Barkawi and promised to cover the entire cost of his father’s treatment in exchange for his return to the team and the renewal of his contract. In addition to this, the player has an offer from the Moroccan League to be with his father.

She indicated that Zamalek officials understood Karim El-Barkawi’s apology due to the circumstances of his father’s illness, who suffers from an incurable disease that requires his son to be by his side during the current period.
