German police said Friday evening that five people had been injured, three of them seriously, in a stabbing accident on board a bus in the western German town of Siegen.
Police said they arrested a 32-year-old female suspect. Police added that another person was seriously injured.
At least 40 people were on the bus heading to a festival in the town of Siegen, about 75 kilometres east of Cologne, when the attack took place, according to a police statement.
The incident comes a week after a fatal stabbing attack in the western German city of Solingen, where a knife-wielding attacker killed three people and injured eight others.
The suspect, a 26-year-old Syrian citizen, was arrested. The terrorist organization ISIS claimed responsibility for the crime, but German authorities are still investigating the validity of this claim.
Zegen police called on citizens “not to publish false information on social networks or other channels, and in particular not to indicate that a terrorist attack has taken place.”
Police added that there was no information indicating such a motive.
