The fishing sector announced today Friday the ban on the collection and marketing of shellfish in the area designated as Imi Ouaddar in the Agadir region, until this area is completely sanitized.
The sector explained, in a press release, that the results of analyzes carried out by the region’s National Marine Fisheries Research Institute demonstrated the presence of toxic marine biological substances in quantities “exceeding acceptable standards” in shellfish.
Thus, the maritime fishing sector recommends that consumers only purchase packaged products bearing health labels specific to their origin and sold in approved points of sale (official markets).
He also warned that shellfish promoted or sold in an unregulated manner have no health guarantee and pose a threat to public health.
