With the adoption by the House of Representatives of Bill No. 43.22 relating to alternative sentences, Morocco has just taken a new step in the process of strengthening the rule of law and protecting human rights and has been able, for the occasion, to update its legal arsenal to link the crimes committed and the penalties imposed.
In practice in several countries around the world, alternative sentences have proven their effectiveness during operation. However, it will be necessary to wait some time after their application in Morocco to hope to see the first results achieved.
However, with the adoption of the bill, the way seems open to move towards a modern judicial system.
