Yesterday, Monday, September 2, the city of Saïdia was placed on security alert after two young Algerians arrived swimming on the city’s beach from Marsa Ben M’hidi, after crossing the maritime border to try to take refuge in Morocco.
In detail of the incident, according to a well-informed source, the incident began around two o’clock in the afternoon when the two young men, aged 23 and 26, were able to swim across the maritime border between Algeria and Morocco, which prompted local authorities to act quickly to secure the area and verify their identities.
The same source adds that one of the two young men was taken to hospital by a Civil Defense ambulance, after suffering from great fatigue due to a long distance swimming, and that after receiving the necessary medical care, his health condition stabilized.
After completing the applicable legal procedures, they should be extradited across the closed land borders.
