The Ministry of National Education, Primary Education and Sports has indicated that more than 8 million 112 thousand students will enroll in educational institutions for the new academic season 2024/2025.

The ministry said in a statement that the Minister of National Education, Primary Education and Sports, Chakib Benmoussa, supervised today, Wednesday, at the Verte Massira primary school in Tahanaout in the regional directorate of Al Haouz, the start of the school year. , students, students and children in primary education are beginning to gradually enroll in their educational establishments, according to the dates set for each stream and level of study.

She indicated that the study will actually begin on Monday, September 9, 2024, in all academic streams and levels of all educational institutions, stressing that public education will receive about 6 million 976 thousand students, distributed to about 3 million 716 female and male students in primary education, with a decrease in the number of students enrolled in this study of strength B (minus 1.3 percent), about 2 million 25 thousand female and male students in preparatory secondary school, with an increase of up to 5.5 percent, and about one million 235 thousand students, girls and boys, in eligible secondary school, with an increase of up to 12.7 percent.

As for new enrollments in public education, their number is expected to reach more than 1,813,000 students, both girls and boys, given that approximately 585,000 girls and boys will enter the first year of primary school, including 625,000 girls and boys students in the first year of preparatory secondary school, and 453,000 female students.

In order to implement its strategy aimed at generalizing and developing primary education, particularly in rural areas, as it constitutes an essential gateway for improving the education system, approximately 984,000 girls and boys have enrolled in primary education, including 642,000 in public primary education.

In order to provide a place for every student, girl and boy, in public education and to reduce overcrowding in classrooms and departments at several levels, the educational offer was strengthened by the creation of 189 new institutions, 68 percent of which were in rural areas, including 10 communal schools, thus increasing the number of educational institutions at the level of the National Education Center, which reached approximately 12,300 educational institutions, 56 percent of which were in rural areas. In addition, 3,492 classrooms were created as part of the expansion of educational institutions, 59 percent of which were in rural areas.

Accommodation spaces were improved through the creation of 15 new guesthouses in rural areas, bringing the number of guesthouses nationally to 1,103, 68 percent of which were in rural areas.

More than 288,000 male and female teachers will be responsible for training and educating students in public education, including 18,000 new female and male teachers.

On the other hand, the ministry confirmed that, given the important role of social assistance services in encouraging schooling, raising the level of academic achievement and reducing school dropout, the current school season will be characterized by the activation of the new formula for downloading the royal initiative “One Million Wallets”, within the framework of the National Initiative for Human Development, from which it is hoped that more than 3 million and 53 thousand students will benefit, as additional sums of money will be paid to families benefiting from the direct social assistance system, in the amount of 200 dirhams for the primary and secondary levels, noting that the scope of the benefit has been expanded to include the secondary qualification stream, where beneficiary families will be entitled to a financial subsidy worth 300 dirhams.

Regarding accommodation services, the number of beneficiaries of school boarding services is expected to reach more than 147 thousand beneficiaries, an increase of 9.5 percent. About 639 thousand students will benefit from school transportation, 58 percent of whom are girls.

In order to ensure the stability of prices of school textbooks planned for the current school year, to encourage schooling and to preserve the purchasing power of families, the source continued, the government has worked to provide financial support to publishers to the tune of 25 percent of the price allocated to the sale of textbooks intended for primary and secondary education levels.

The Ministry concluded by calling on the various educational and administrative actors and all partners to continue to mobilize and engage in the implementation of reform projects, projects and structured initiatives that will characterize the current school year, which aim to achieve a comprehensive transformation of the performance of educational institutions, strengthen the control of basic skills and develop openness between students, girls and boys, and reduce… school waste, according to the strategic objectives of the 2022-2026 roadmap, “for a quality public school for all.”
