“Al-Sakuri” gives the official start of the 2024-2025 training year

The Minister of Economic Inclusion, Small Businesses, Employment and Skills, Younès Skouri, gave the official start of the 2024-2025 training year from the Meknes Institute for Training in Health and Social Work Professions on Wednesday.

Al-Sakuri stressed, in a statement to the press on this occasion, that this new year represents an important stage in the implementation of the strategic projects of the Royal Roadmap for Vocational Training, with a significant increase in the number of human resources and the opening of new establishments.

He specified that the total number of trainees pursuing training for the year 2024-2025 is 678,605 trainees, distributed among 2,250 vocational training institutes.

To support this increase, the minister added, 24 new establishments will open their doors, including the cities of the programmed trades and skills, bringing the total capacity of these establishments to 21,865 places.

On the other hand, he stressed that in order to provide social support to vocational training trainees, particularly in rural areas, the ministry has strengthened the boarding school system by creating four new boarding schools this year, bringing the total number to around 150 boarding schools with a capacity of 19,085 beneficiaries.

In the health sector, which is an essential lever for social and economic development, and in accordance with the royal vision of ensuring access for all to quality health care, the vocational training system has been strengthened, indicating that the number of training establishments in the field of health professions has reached 347, including 326 private ones, welcoming 52,791 trainees in 38 specialties.

He stressed that “this effort embodies Morocco’s commitment to training qualified professionals to meet the growing needs of the sector.”

For her part, the Director General of the Vocational Training and Employment Promotion Office, Lubna Atrisha, indicated that the vocational training institutions affiliated to the Office have started, from today Wednesday, to welcome second-year trainees for the right to enter the 2024-2025 training, with a total capacity of 414,800 educational places, including 275,000 trainees who will begin their first-year training on September 6.

Regarding the training institute for health and social work professions in Meknes, Ms. Atreisha indicated that it contributes to strengthening the training apparatus of the office by providing 768 teaching places and a diversified training offer in 10 divisions, crowned with a diploma in health and social work professions.

According to data from the Office of Vocational Training and Employment Promotion, the three institutes specializing in health and social work professions in Meknes, Beni Mellal and Oujda, created within the framework of a partnership model between the public and private sectors with the contribution of the Ministry of Health and professionals, will offer a total capacity of 768 and 624, respectively, and 768 teaching places, or a total capacity of 2,160 teaching places.

In terms of infrastructure, the three institutes have a wide range of spaces that promote dynamic learning, including specialized rooms and rooms dedicated to personal skills and the strengthening of linguistic, entrepreneurial, behavioral and digital skills, in addition to simulation centers equipped with basic equipment to allow trainees to live a professional experience that simulates the professional conditions of the health sector.

The three institutes also have career guidance centres allowing candidates, trainees and graduates to closely follow information, guidance, support for setting up professional projects and activities to help with professional integration.

In order to provide suitable conditions for the accommodation of young trainees, the two institutes specializing in health and social work professions in Meknes and Oujda have boarding schools that can accommodate up to 120 trainees, 50 percent of whom are reserved for women.

As a reminder, the creation of the three institutes is part of a partnership project, developed by the Millennium Challenge Account-Maroc Agency within the framework of the “Charter II” cooperation program, signed between the government of the Kingdom of Morocco and the government of the United States of America. The creation of the three institutes required a budget of 82.7 million dirhams for the Meknes institute, 69.89 million dirhams for the Beni Mellal institute and 81.82 million dirhams for the Oujda institute.

During this visit to the Institute for Training in Health and Social Work Professions, Mr. Skouri was accompanied by the governor of the Fez-Meknes region, the governor of the Fez prefecture, Mr. Said Zniber, and the president of the Fez-Meknes regional council, Mr. Abdel Wahed Al-Ansari, in addition to representatives of economic partners and regional stakeholders.
