Placing sand barricades at the Oum Er-Rbia estuary to prevent water loss into the sea

Heba Press – Casablanca

Authorities have resorted to huge sand barricades at the mouth of the Oum Er-Rbia River, on the outskirts of Azemmour, in order to stop the waste of water flowing into the sea.

The authorities decided to restrict the waters of the Oum Er Rbia River using huge barriers of sand and earth before the water flows into the sea and exactly under the famous bridge that connects the highway to the city of Azemmour.

A number of interested people approved this measure, which would help preserve the water of the Umm Er-Rbia River in the face of its falling level, noting that the authorities had already carried out searches in a number of farms and fields suspected of stealing water from the river through secret pumps connected to long pipes without obtaining permits.
