On Friday evening, the province of Ouarzazate experienced heavy rainfall accompanied by strong winds.
According to local sources, the heavy rains caused flooding of most of the city’s neighborhoods and streets, and water entered a number of homes and shops, causing significant material losses.
In the same context, torrential rains caused the collapse of some houses in several neighborhoods, without causing any casualties.
The heavy rains also caused the destruction of large areas of agricultural crops, amidst the grief and sadness of the farmers.
Local authorities mobilised their various elements to intervene: rainwater was evacuated through drainage channels, residents were assured of leaving collapsed houses and all measures were taken to assess material losses and compensate their owners.
