Sharafat Afilal, leader of the Progress and Socialism Party and former Minister Delegate for Water, said that the water facilities completed in the southeastern region and in the Oued Noun region played a major role in managing the recent floods, not in terms of mobilizing water resources or protecting residents from flooding.
Avilal reacted on his Facebook page, on the sidelines of the floods that have affected many Moroccan regions, which have had a positive impact on the water surface, seriously damaged by successive years of drought.
Avilal had previously confirmed that Morocco was among the countries threatened by water shortages, stressing that “the public policies followed have not preserved the strategic reserve of groundwater which has been exploited arbitrarily.”
