This new 32-team competition, hosted in the United States, will change the landscape of club football worldwide.
FIFA has unveiled the emblem for the FIFA Club World Cup™, which will feature 32 teams for the first time, as the countdown to what will be the most inclusive competition in club football history continues with less than a year to go until it kicks off in the United States.
“Freed from desire” by Gala, which has become a true anthem for all football fans, will be the sonic identity of the competition. FIFA has also introduced the slogan “The world is your pitch”, which invites fans to express what makes their club so special to them. The FIFA Club World Cup 2025, which will take place from 15 June to 13 July 2025, will bring together representatives from each of the six confederations: AFC (Asia), CAF (Africa), CONCACAF (North, Central America and the Caribbean), CONMEBOL (South America), OFC (Oceania) and UEFA (Europe). The event will define new modalities for crowning a true club world champion.
This new competition is part of FIFA’s initiatives to provide more playing opportunities for national teams and clubs around the world – one of the strategic objectives of the 2023-2027 cycle – and to improve the level of football around the world. To date, 30 of the 32 qualifiers are already known, with an additional CONMEBOL club and the host country representative to be confirmed at a later date. The various qualification pathways build on the continental club competitions, being based on sporting merit over a four-year cycle. As such, they give pride of place to the continental champions and the most consistent clubs.
The emblem, which will be adapted and reused for all future editions of the event, is inspired by the ball, the history and culture of football, abstractly incorporating the competition’s initials “CWC” (Club World Cup) in a circular form. FIFA President Gianni Infantino said: “This is a very special moment. Today we are launching the brand of the new FIFA Club World Cup and ushering in a new era for club football.” “Thirty-two of the best clubs from around the world will be in the United States in June and July 2025. They will be the heart of this competition, which we are looking forward to seeing. These clubs will compete on a global stage and at the end, only one will be world champion.” » “We therefore ask you – the fans of the world – to bring your stories, your passion and your fervour to show the world what makes your club great, and to make the world your home turf.” In addition, FIFA has collaborated with Italian artist Gala to ensure that her hit single “Freed from Desire”, a true anthem of football culture, becomes the sonic identity of the competition. Given its popularity with fans around the world, the choice of this flagship track confirms the historical importance of football and clubs, while marking a new chapter in the evolution of the sport. FIFA will work with the qualified clubs to showcase, showcase and celebrate the unique characteristics and folklore of each club, giving them the opportunity to unleash their international ambitions and share their stories with the world.
